MERCY Communities Celebrates 25 Years of Service to Springfield Community
For 25 years, MERCY Communities has been steadfast in its support and dedication to
addressing the crisis of family homelessness in our community. To celebrate, AN open house was held on Friday, October 11, 2024 at MERCY’s Administrative Office, including tours, music and refreshments.
In 1999, MERCY opened its doors with 10 units of Transitional Housing for women with
children. Since then, we have grown to also offer Permanent Supportive Housing and Rapid
Rehousing for families with children. Through these programs, we estimate that we have served over 600 families and 1,700 individuals. In 2024 alone, MERCY has supported 49 families with 51 adults and 103 children.
In addition to these programs, MERCY also maintains an after-care component to ensure that clients continue to progress and do not return to homelessness. One of MERCY’s clients said, “MERCY has helped me to stand on my own two feet.” We are proud of the progress that all of our clients have made over the last 25 years, and we look forward to celebrating this anniversary year. Thank you to everyone who helped kick off this exciting milestone.
